Hey there, I’m Scott.
I'm a design leader who got here the long way around.
I started college planning to be a rock drummer. When that band broke up, I needed to figure out what came next. I ended up in marketing and business, worked at a few startups, and somewhere along the way realized the work I was most excited about was design and building things.
The problem was I didn't know how to do it yet. So I taught myself. Nights and weekends, reading everything I could find, learning tools until 2 or 3 in the morning. Eventually I joined Cerner (now Oracle Health), which turned out to be exactly what I needed…smart people, hard problems, and the chance to go from scrappy generalist to actual expert.
After a few years, I took a detour into product management. It was useful. I got better at strategy, at understanding the business side, but I realized pretty quickly that I was more interested in building and leading design teams. I've spent the last several years doing exactly that at Cencora. I care about business outcomes as much as craft quality.
Outside of work, I can't sit still. I race bikes, build furniture, play drums, go to concerts, visit national parks, and travel internationally whenever I can. Being fully remote allows me to split my time between Kansas City and Knoxville.
